Does anyone know if this area is open and accessible now after the hurricane and snow storm of fall 2011? We went here in the spring and would love to revisit.

I would like to try the Buttermilk Falls hike sometime.  We've been hesitant because we are hiking with a preschooler and back surgery survivor(me), so that factors in when we plan hikes.  Maybe we'll look into that this year though...

Well, with any luck, the work may be done by spring. I agree that Crater lake is a sweet little spot for a quick getaway, but the hike from Buttermilk Falls is pretty neat too.

Has anyone been out to Hemlock Pond?  It's about a 2 mile hike from Blue Mountain Lake and I think it's relatively flat.  As long as the road is open to the BML parking area it should be easy enough to park there and head over to Hemlock.  It's the least accessible of the three lakes since the woods road leading to it was closed years ago.  Sounds like it could be a nice quiet swimming hole.

Thanks Hank, I will have to investigate that this Spring.
