NJ Hiking: Connect

A Social Network for New Jersey Hiking Enthusiasts

This weekend (hopefully Saturday) we'll be doing a slightly different loop version at Sterling than ones we've done before.

We 'll be returning to the Visitors' Center coming down the (Yellow) Sterling Valley Loop Trail.  But we have an option of either picking up the (Blue) Lake Loop Trail where the Yellow leaves Right into the Blue OR staying on the Yellow when it goes straight and joins the (Orange) Pine Meadow Trail.  Distance wise we calculated them to be just about the same.  So it's really a matter of 'trail ambiance'. ;)

Anyone done either of these trails: Blue or Orange at Sterling?  Any insights, opinions, whatever?  Or should we just toss a piece of granola bar and wait to see whether a squirrel or a chipmunk grabs it first?  (Squirrel: Blue; Chippy: Orange).

Thanks in advance.  Have a great holiday weekend, btw.  Hope the weather holds out for everyone to get in at least one good hiking day out of it!
