NJ Hiking: Connect

Please visit NJHIKING.COM - Connect is no longer updated

Hi All:

I'll be in Williamstown on the 1st at a ham radio club meeting where I'm presenting a book signing/photo essay of my AT hike. It isn't open to the public due to space limitations or I would invite everyone. I know Daniela has read the book about my adventure and it would have been great to meet her and some of the others on here. I'm supposed to be in Connecticut next June for an event, maybe we can do something then?

Why a ham radio club you ask? When I hiked the trail I carried a ham radio (Morse code) and one of the goals of the hike was to use it in every state on the trail. I only was on the air once in NJ, at the High Point Shelter and the entire time I had a female bear wandering around the shelter perimeter, waiting for me to leave so she could see if I left any food scraps.

I was hoping to have some time to get out and hike in Northern NJ, but it is not to be. I have to be in Atlanta, GA the next day for another event. I thought it would be nice to see the High Point Monument in daylight, it looked very impressive at night!

I am planning to "Trail Angel" up on the AT in the White Mountains this coming Tuesday. If there are any NJ hikers up there then, tell them to be on the outlook for me.

Anyway, that is my update on life on the trail.

I would have loved to have met you too, although it was not meant to be this time anyway as my copy of the book is currently in St. Louis, MO being read by my mother, who is thoroughly enjoying it and appreciates the larger print with her eyesight not being what it used to be. I would certainly want to have book in hand for an autograph when the times comes that we do meet :)
That's funny! It seems I have a number of "predatory mothers" that have taken their daughter's book and haven't given them back yet. Maybe I'm missing a potential market here Daniela? You're at least the fourth one that has had the same complaint. Maybe next June will work out better.
