I pulled three ticks off of my dog this week. We have always used Frontline and although it does take 12 hours for Frontline to kill ticks after they are on the dog, I have never actually found any on her. I have heard reports that Frontline is not working as well as it used to and my vet agrees, there seems to be some resistance developing to Frontline. Her recommendation is to switch to K9 Advantix, especially since it REPELS ticks, which Frontline does not. That certainly sounds attractive for hiking dogs. We are switching over and hopefully won't be bringing any more of those nasty pests home. It is important to note that K9 Advantix cannot be used on or around cats.
