I was looking at your blue heron pictures thinking "Oh, they saw two blue herons, too!" only to read you saw FIVE?!?!?!? I thought it was just me thinking I had seen more great blue herons this year than I have in my entire life but apparently there are a lot of them around this year.
We were thinking it was just this area was really favorable for blue herons or something, they were mentioned in one of the interpretive plaques... then I read your latest hike and was like oh maybe they are just really abundant this year. It was so cool to watch them move their legs and neck ever...so....slowly... and then SNAP get a tasty something.
We may have to start hauling our good camera on our bikes next time... it was killing me not to get a good shot!
