We went over to PA to hike The Pinnacle. It is normally an 8.6 mile hike but since it is so hugely popular, we decided to take the back way and park near Hawk Mountain which made our hike 12.8 miles, but a little less crowded than the AT going to and from the Reservoir parking lot in Hamburg where most people park. It took 1 1/2 hours to get there from Central Jersey. The weather was gorgeous and the views were spectacular.

Cool hike and cute doggie. Will have to check out the area, never been there before.

Thanks! That is Shawnee, my hiking partner. Those of us in the dog group should probably introduce our dogs so I'll go over on over there and get the introductions started.

I should mention also the reason our hike was 12.8 miles is that we went out of our way to go to Pulpit Rock, another scenic overlook that you would normally pass going up to The Pinnacle from the Reservoir parking lot in Hamburg. Pulpit Rock wasn't really worth the added mileage and getting caught up in heavier hiking traffic. Had we just gone directly to The Pinnacle and back from where we parked, it would have been around 10 miles.
