"Mind the Gap" - Mt Tammany and Mt Minsi

Headed up to the Delaware Water Gap on Sunday for 2 classic fall hikes. First, climbed up Mt Tammany for a view of the Delaware River and the "gap" from the NJ side. About 3.5 miles roundtrip, and quite steep, up Red Dot then down Blue. It had poured the day before, so the water cascades on Dunfield Creek were quite nice.

After Mt Tam, we drove over the bridge into PA onto route 611 to the trailhead for the AT, which heads up Mt. Minsi so we could see the Gap from the other side. Could see where we had been earlier by using my telephoto lens on the camera.

The trail up is pretty steep and it was very wet, muddy and slippery from the rain so we opted to use the fire road to head down for a change this time. About 5.5 miles roundtrip if you use the fire road, a bit shorter if you come down the way you came.

The fall color was fading a bit but still spectacular. The drive up Route 206 and 80 was nice as well, and pretty much in peak through the Chester area.

*Normally you would just do one or the other of these hikes. Doing both is suitable for fit hikers looking for a challenge.
