I don't know about everyone else out there, but I am Very excited about warmer weather this year. I'll be taking advantage of all the killer info on this site to make sure I have some fun things to do each weekend.

Anyone have an plans? My first simple hike will be Cheesequake. I just love a nice springtime walk/hike through the park. Then from there, I plan on heading north. Maybe some Jenny Jump? And then, by April, I plan to kick the butt of Wawayanda. Or maybe it'll kick mine. Either way, I'll be there :)

Keep up the great work here.

Yes, can't wait... this winter has been brutal and has offered very few opportunities to get out. Looking forward to getting back to the Delaware Water Gap and doing Mt. Minsi (have only done Mt. Tammany). We did Jenny Jump 2 years ago and it was very nice, the views were great. Enjoy!!

Glad to hear that I am not the only one feeling this way :)  Though I have done Tammany multiple times over the years, I have actually never hiked Mt. Minsi. Maybe this year? :)
Any other parks you are looking to hit up? Do you have any recommendation of hikes posted on this site that I should check out?

We're ready for Spring too. We like winter hiking, but it's been a little over the top this year.

Really recommend Minsi - nice hike + if you have binocs or a telephoto lens you can look over at Tam and see the hikers on summit. Neat perspective to see where you were at when on top of Tammany.

Other good ones: Bearfort Ridge, Terrace Pond, any trail in Harriman, Pyramid Mountain Tripod Rock, Ramapo Mountains Van Slyke Castle, Norvin Green Wyanokie High Point... So many hikes, so few weekends....

I can't wait for spring either.  I actually hate winter hiking but I do it every single weekend so I don't have to spend time getting me and my dog back in shape in the spring.  (OK, there is one thing I like about it: no bugs.) If you haven't hiked the Coppermines Trail in Delaware Water Gap NRA, there are great waterfalls along the trail in April when the water is really flowing.  Here was my April version of the hike which I think was over 11 miles.  I did it a different way in August but the waterfalls weren't flowing - here are some shorter options from that hike.

I'll second Daniela Wagstaff's recommendation of the Coppermine Trail, It's one of my favorites, but definitely wait a while. A couple of years ago, in trail conditions similar to what we have now - thick icy crust - I was descending the narrow, steep section near the waterfalls. Looking ahead, the trail was solid ice. I said to myself  "It would be real easy to slide off there" and sure enough, I did. (This was before I knew about Microspikes). I slid about 20 feet down into the ravine, before self-arresting on a tree. It took about 15 minutes of kicking steps and strong language to get myself out.

Anyway, better days are coming, and I'm going to take a ride up to North NJ, get my Watershed Permit and see how conditions are in that neck of the woods.
