Hiked around 7 miles at
High Mountain Preserve Park in Wayne, NJ. There are two different maps online but I liked
this one the best. I ended up giving my copy to a couple of guys who were lost going in the opposite direction when I was near the end. There is supposed to be a kiosk at the end of the parking lot (Lot 6 William Patterson College) but I did not see a kiosk at all, so no maps there. Be sure to print one out before going. When you enter the parking lot, make the first left that you can and park right in that area then walk back the way you drove in. Cross the street (College Road) and go to the left of the guardrail and you will see the trail. Be careful at intersections because some are not well marked. Nice view of the New York City skyline from the top. Instead of coming back on the yellow to red trail as the instructions in the hike link above indicate, I stayed on the yellow and came back on the white trail to add some distance. The white trail goes through a valley so I couldn't feel the 20 mph frigid wind gusts that were whipping us around up higher. This is a no hunting park.
