Hi Shea - The actual squeezer/scramble area isn't that long really... takes perhaps 10-15 minutes to go thru, max. Perhaps more if it's popular and you are waiting behind people. Also, the scramble at the end of the squeezer can be bypassed if need be.
Dawn
Recently, I said it should take a hour or so to reach the Lemon Squeezer. Wondering if that was true, as it's been quite a few years since I've been there, I decided to try it out.
Tuesday, I left my car at the Elk Pen at 12 noon, and reached the Squeezer, via the AT, at 1:05 PM, moving at my usual snails pace. Went up the hard way, had lunch on top, and came down the easy way.
Rather than going back the way I'd come, I took the Arden-Surebridge Trail around Island Pond and back to the Elk Pen. Got back to the car at 3:45. There's still some ice in the Squeezer, and on the edges of the pond.Lemon Squeezer; entrance is at lower right.

Granted, the Lemon Squeezer may not live up to it's hype, but it's such an iconic spot that you really have to go at least once. Supposedly it has been visited by many celebrities, including, believe it or not, Marilyn Monroe!
If you don't mind traveling a bit farther, try some of the scrambles around Mohonk. The Labyrinth and the Crevice are worth the trip.
