The Pine Barrens is a really cool, unique and huge area (bit more than a million acres, plenty of room for the Jersey Devil to hide) and the Batona goes thru the best  of it. All super flat, hardly any elevation, lots of sandy pine needle covered trails. Ticks are a little infamous there though, so bring ample bug spray :)

Bass River is probably a good place to start, it’s at one end if you are thinking of doing the whole trail. Batsto is an option too. Are you looking to run the entire thing in a day, just hike a section, or use the camps and make it a few day thing?

Hotel options are probably best on the outskirts of AC, but you can find them Rt 30 too. You’d probably be 20-30 mins from either Bass River or Batsto.

There are trail maps and GPS files on our trail maps page if you need ‘em: http://www.njhiking.com/nj-trail-maps/.

I don’t know how familiar you are with NJ, but south Jersey can be somewhat rural so I’d wonder if Uber has coverage in the entire area. I’ve never used Uber so I can’t say for sure.
