This trail is neatly tucked away behind the Palisades Interstate Parkway in the cozy town of Alpine, NJ. The location of the trail-head is still in question, however, I managed to find my way nonetheless. The hike begins on a gravel road that affords a great view of the Hudson River/NYC region. The spectacular view is visible for about half a mile before the trail enters the woods, gradually descending amidst a multitude of beautiful trees. After another half a mile or so, the trail emerges from the woods in mid descent and gives you a private view...

If it's a sunny day, you'll rub shoulders with the sun as as you continue to walk along this steep, slender ridge. After a few moments, the trail arrives at the top of the first set of rock stairs which will lead you down to the heart of the trail. This section of the hike is breathtaking: lots of lush green foliage, huge fallen trees...and if you remember to look up, you'll behold a sight such as this:

The trail continues through somewhat of a rocky region until it reaches the shore of the Hudson River...

And then the journey begins!

My best advice is to expect to spend about a good forty minutes scrambling from rock to rock. For the most part, the rocks are of moderate size, but don't be fooled! You will encounter a few huge rocks where you'll most likely scratch your head and glance at the Hudson River dubiously. :)

Not only is the view at the top of the rock scramble well worth it, the climb up is loads of fun. It's like being at a playground, except this time you're not too big for the kid sized apparatus. In total, the hike takes about 3 hours at a leisurely pace. Hope to you see some of you out on the trail. :)
