For foliage resources & reports, update your bookmarks to "NJ Fall Foliage".

Autumn color can be fleeting and elusive, so to help others in search of where the color is happening around New Jersey, we started a forum where you can post Fall Foliage updates.

(For a list of foliage resources, check out our "NJ Fall Foliage" page.)

Post the park or area, the amount of color (ie, unchanged, low, medium, peak color), and the date. Include a pic if you have one!

11/5/10 - Apshawa Preserve, West Milford: pops of color but mostly fading, 70% leaf drop.

The oft-underrated Pinelands (down here in south jersey) are absolutely beautiful right now. I'm back in school full-time so I don't have much time to travel too far, but I still get my hiking fix in the pinelands, and this time of year they are really beautiful. Plus, they're good if you're still acclimating to the cold. I find that if I head for a really elevated hike too early in the fall, I'm almost always unprepared (I never learn!). south jersey is pretty much flat, so it's a great way to ease into the chilly weather.

These pics are of the Mt. Misery (8.6 mile) trail and a few side trails. Taken Oct 30, 2010. As you can see it was PEAK color that day!

I agree the Pinelands are underrated - fiery red blueberry bushes against green pine is as striking as any other fall foliage.

We like hiking the pinelands in the winter - it's cooler, less ticks, and we can avoid the bit of snow we get in the mountains of N. Jersey. Plus with the pine there is at least some 'leaves' on the trees.

11/14/10 - Harriman State Park, NY. Still some fading color, decent amount of leaf drop. Some color along the Parkway heading north.
