NJ was one of the most fun states for me for various reasons. The bears made for some very interesting and humorous events in the book. What NJ lacks in length and size on the AT, it makes up for with fabulous terrain and animal life.
Hopefully you'll have a chance to attempt a thru-hike. I say "attempt" because it is a challenge and most find it more of a mental challenge than physical. Have fun.
